Table Of Content
4340 is a versatile nickel, chromium, and molybdenum alloy. The 4340 Steel Plate possesses good strength and shows outstanding resistance against corrosion and oxidation in stress-induced systems. 4340 steel sheet possesses superior fatigue and creep resistance over other grades. These sheets can be readily welded using fusion or resistance welding techniques. A 4340 aq steel plate has a melting point up to 1427 degrees C and is a common feature in structural parts, gears, landing gear, and so on.
4340 and 4140 are two grades having similar and contrasting features and properties. Both these grades can be differentiated based on certain characteristics.
- Alloy 4340 Steel Plate is designed with a higher carbon content than the 4140 plates. However, the chromium content in the 4140 grade is higher. AISI 4340 Steel shows the presence of nickel in its chemical concentration, giving its superior strength and tolerances over the 4140 grade.
- Alloy Steel EN24 /4340 Sheet Plate are desired for their superior hardness and toughness characteristics. The 4140 plates possess superior ductility and machinability.
- A 36CrNiMo4 Plate is designed with a higher tensile and yield strength over the robust 4140 modules.
What is AMS 6359?
AMS 6359 is a nickel, chromium, and molybdenum grade with lower carbon content. The ams 6359 plate is an aerospace material that is hardened or tempered, allowing it to work well across different environments.

What is 4340 Steel Heat Treatment Chart
To achieve desired hardness and strength the 4340 is subject to heat treatment. it is heated at temperatures of 830 degrees C, followed by quenching in oil. The alloy is subsequently forged at temperatures between 42 to 1233 degrees C followed by annealing at 844 degrees C. The alloy is later cooled in the furnace and tempered followed by hardening.
4340 Steel Hardness Chart
Hardness is an important aspect that helps it to fight wear and provide protection to different equipment. The hardness chart of the 1.6511 Plate helps in determining the plates hardness and determining its load-carrying capacity in the system. The EN24 Plate is designed with superior hardness characteristics of 217 Brinell. The hardness of the subsequent modules of the 817M40 Plate increase or decrease if these components are heat-treated or normalized.

What 4340 Steel Plate Properties Make It Suitable To Use In Heavy-duty Industrial Application
4340 plates is a low alloy grade. it possesses exceptional strength due to its superior chemical concentration. 4340 steel plate suppliers heat treat these alloys at high temperatures giving them enhanced hardness. The hardness in these items helps in preventing any dents and scratches due to impact in heavy-duty industrial applications. 4340 plate suppliers can also normalize these grades to give the desired strength level, to withstand different loads in stress-induced industrial setups.
