The high content of chromium, molybdenum and significant content of tungsten added to this nickel based alloy gives it exceptional resistance to seawater and brine solutions.
Furthermore, this austenitic alloy also has an enhanced resistance to not only pitting and crevice corrosion but also to stress corrosion cracking. Due to a lower content of carbon, the Alloy C22 has good weldable properties and the alloy is not prone to decay after being welded. Which is why Hastelloy C22 sheets or plates can be used in an as-welded condition.
