What is Incoloy / Inconel 800 Plates?

Widely used in equipment that must have high tensile strength as well as good resistance properties to oxidation and carburisation, the Werkstoff Nr. 1.4876 is able to resist other harmful effects of exposure to elevated temperature.

In fact, Inconel 800 could be used in applications involving seawater or marine engineering purposes. This is possible owing to the fact that the UNS N08800 is free from not only chloride stress related corrosion cracking but also from intergranular corrosion, which in turn is caused by sensitisation.

In an annealed condition the Rockwell hardness value of Inconel 800 is 70. The alloy has a melting range between a temperature of 1357°C to 1385°C. In a cold Worked, annealed condition, the yield strength of Inconel 800 is 205 Mpa, whereas, in a hot finished annealed condition, its yield strength is about 170 Mpa. Similar to most Inconel alloys, Incoloy 800 has high impact strength at high temperatures and continues to have good toughness at cryogenic temperatures. Most of its corrosion resistance properties have been attributed to the addition of 30% to 35% of nickel in the alloy of UNS No 8800.

Incoloy 800 is a grade that is part of the super austenitic grade of stainless steel components. Incoloy 800 Plate is designed with a superior chemical composition of nickel, iron, and chromium coupled with additions of copper, silicon, and molybdenum. The high strength Inconel 800 Plate exhibits enhanced corrosion resistance properties coupled with superior oxidation resistance in an array of stress-induced environments. The content of molybdenum in the Incoloy 800 Sheet gives it outstanding tolerance against pitting and oxidants across aqueous systems. The modules in the 800 grade perform well in temperatures up to 1100 degrees F.  Inconel 800 Sheet has excellent mechanical properties and are widely seen across heat exchangers, sheathing,  nuclear generators, valves, pressure vessels, etc.
