Inconel 600 or as also referred to by its trade name UNS N06600 is a non-magnetic, highly corrosion resistant nickel based alloy. Reckoned as a conventional engineering grade alloy, Inconel is a good fit for use across a wide temperature range.

Although the mechanical properties could vary at different temperature points. For instance, the minimum tensile strength, in an annealed condition for Inconel grade 600 Sheet, Plate, Strip, Bar at ambient temperature would be 550 MPa, whereas its yield strength at 2% offset stands at 240 MPa with a 30% Elongation in 2". The melting point of Din 2.4816 ranges between 2470 °F - 2580 °F, which explains why these plates can be used to a temperature elevation point of up to 2000 °F.
The impact strength or toughness property of Inconel 600 like its tensile strength, remains unaffected in low temperatures. Hence, the alloy, from a resultant Charpy V-Notch test could be used from temperature as low as -100°F to a temperature as high as 1000°F, with its impact strength ranging between 217 MPa - 244 MPa.
What is ASTM B168 UNS N06600 Sheet?
Usually, components such as plates, sheets, and strips produced from nickel based alloys such as Alloy 600 are made in accordance with ASTM B168. The products made under this particular specification are to be first sampled and prepared, following which they are to be tested for their conformance to not only their chemistry requirements, but also their mechanical as well as their dimensional requirements. In addition to this, the UNS No 6600 plates are also tested to check if they conform to their grain size requirements
