Stainless 321 and 321h are identical components. They are separated based on the content of carbon in their chemical composition. A 321h is a high carbon grade, having a carbon content between 0.04% to 0.10%. In the 321 grade, the carbon content is at most 0.8%.

SS 321H is designed with a superior chemical concentration. The SS 321h Chemical Composition consists of 17-19% of chromium, 9-12% of nickel, and 0.04-0.10% carbon. It is made with a manganese content of 2%, with phosphorus making up 0.045%, Sulfur 3%, silicon 0.75%, nitrogen 0.10% with balanced iron content.
