What is Stainless Steel 310 Sheet?

This grade of austenitic stainless steel is classified as a heat resistant one. This is because the ASTM A240 Type 310 plates when exposed to Mildly Cyclic Conditions at elevated temperatures as high as 2010°F exhibit superior Oxidation Resistance.

In comparison to most heat resistant alloys, the AISI 310 UNS S31000 offers much more resistance to corrosion. It is noted that in reducing, nitriding or carburizing atmospheres, 310 Stainless Steel shim stock has the ability to outperform most heat resistant stainless steel grades. The yield strength of grade 310 stainless steel sheet works out to 245 Mpa. These plates, strips, coils and sheets are available in standard thickness in falling between the range of 4.8 mm to about 76.2 mm. While the melting point for the ASTM A240 310 SS coils ranges at a temperature between 2470 – 2555°F.

What is ASTM A240 Grade 310 Plate?

Since the ASTM has mentioned a specific set of guidelines with respect to the mechanical and chemical property requirements of the SA 240 Gr 310 SS produced strips, coils, sheets and plates, these chromium alloyed plates can be used to not only produce pressure vessels, but also for those applications where the alloy is able to meet its requirements.

What is SS 310S Sheet?

Grade 310S stainless steel sheet or as known by its trade name UNS S31008, is a modified low carbon version alloy of the regular grade 310. While the major alloyants remain the same, the only modification done to the low carbon version of SS Werkstoff No 1.4841 is to its chemistry, where the content of carbon has been controlled.
